New year, new me? Perhaps you’ve struggled to come up with a New Year’s resolution this year. Let’s just go ahead and put our dental oral health at the top of those lists. Dr. Chad was informed by his own grandmother this holiday that losing weight should be at the top of his list, but that won’t stop him from striving for the best for you, which includes a pain free 2019! Do you suffer from ear pain? Sore jaw muscles? Frequent headaches? Maybe you can’t open your mouth fully, or there is a painful clicking/popping your jaw on opening in closing. If any of these pertain to you, you may be suffering from Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder. Depending on the cause, your dentist can provide the treatment needed to reduce your discomfort. Causes range from clenching and grinding your teeth, misaligned bites, and even arthritis! Neuromuscular treatment focuses on the hard and soft tissues, muscles and nerves. We treat the condition with the most conservative treatment possible. The severity of the condition does affect the type of treatment required. The goal is to reduce the stress on the chewing muscles and re-align the jaw for proper function in a non-surgical manner. An initial evaluation will be conducted and an explanation of the cause of your symptoms provided, along with options for treatment. Not all cases can be resolved in this manner, but, the majority will have vastly improved results.
